Architecture and the city

The late 19th century saw the emergence of a series of new city plans, these were graphic arguments for new ways of being in the city. Discuss two of these, Cerda?s plan for the Extension of Barcelona, and the diagrams of the Garden City Movement. Using diagrams and illustrations, discuss the spatial difference between the two, and their differing instrumentality. As a starting point use the references listed below.
