Authorized Criminality

“Authorized criminality,” as you learned this week, is a paradoxical concept: illegal activities are temporarily made legal in pursuit of a greater good. Law enforcement officers have the challenge of keeping this illegal activity as legal as possible.

In this assignment, you will suppose you are a police officer going undercover as part of a drug bust.

• Write a paper explaining what you will ethically do or not do as part of your cover and why.
• Describe what your authorized criminality will look like.
• Conclude your paper by explaining the ways in which this authorized criminality can be considered ethical.
