I personally feel that social media has been a blessing but a curse to our listening skills. The positive to social media is that it has allowed us ways to connect to family and friends that are in different locations. For example, I was at the nail salon last week and this lady had Face timed her nail tech while she was in Mexico. The way that social media hinders our listening skills is that it can distract us from the message that is being delivered. It also allows the listener space to misconstrue the message that is being sent or the message that is being sent is not correct information there for taking away from the truth. For example at times when I am trying to speak with my husband he is on Facebook keeping up with is friends and he is not listening to what I am talking about.
