David Foster Wallace’s book review

David Foster Wallace’s book review discusses authoritative rules and conventions of Standard Written English, and yet the essay also bends and at times rejects some of these conventions.  Identify one thing that Wallace does in his essay that you have been told at some point in your writing career not to do. Why do you think he does this in his essay? In other words, what might his purpose as a writer be in flouting this “rule?”  What is the effect of his doing this? How is he able to get away with it? How does this act relate to the specific arguments Wallace develops in his essay?
