The English and Indians came at New England during 1602 when the pilgrims landed on the Plymouth Rock. King Philip’s war is also termed as the first Indian war that was the armed violence between the indigenous US inhabitants and the English colonists during 1675-78. The battle is named after the renowned leader of the indigenous US side, Metacomet, known as King Philip (Bender, 2002). Major Benjamin Church became the puritan superman of the battle; it was this group of puritan rangers and indigenous US allies that eventually murdered King Phillip in 1676. The battle continued in the northern New England until an agreement was signed in 1678 at Casco Bay.

The Pequot war begun when Pequot tribe attacked English trade boats on the seashore in 1634.  Pequot tribe plundered the boats and murdered nine traders. Bender (2002) expressed that the Pequot tribe were compelled to a sign a treaty claiming that they would be fined thirty otter pelts and forty beaver pelts. However, the Pequot tribe failed to pay the amount.  The impact was that the Pequot tribe was eliminated from the New England. It took three centuries for the Pequot tribe to redevelop their economic and political power in the southern New England.

John Eliot served as a puritan missionary for the US Indians. Eliot’s determination gave him the name as “the disciple of the Indians”. England financed Eliot’s support for the Indians. Eliot committed his work before the Philip’s war. Mary white Rowlandson was a colonial American woman (Bender, 2002). Native Americans captured Mary Rowlandson during King Philip’s war and was detained for eleven months before ransom was paid. After her release, Rowlandson wrote a book explaining her experience.
