multiple choice exams. I have dictated what I want you to learn and how I want you to learn it. You have not
had the opportunity to CHOOSE what the information from the chapter that excites you!

the glycogen stored in the liver is metabolized to maintain blood glucose between meals”
GRADING WILL BE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Is the question “application based”? Points can not be awarded for a definition or memorization question.
Is the question clear?
Is the question the appropriate level of difficulty given that this is a college level science course?
Is the question unique?
o You need to submit questions that you wrote. Please, avoid submitting questions from a previous
video quiz, assignment, exam, end of the chapter question, another student, etc. Observe
academic honesty in your work or it will be reported to UIUC.
Are there appropriate distracters for the incorrect responses? For example, if the incorrect answers are ‘The
Easter Bunny’, ‘Santa Clause’, and ‘President Obama’ then it would not demonstrate a lot of thought.
Is there only one correct answer? If you notice that there is more than one correct answer, take time to
reword the question so that only one answer could be graded as correct.
With respect to feedback, did you reference the specific page number or figure number found in the
required text book? If you do not have the text, you may want to go to the UIUC Undergraduate Library to
ensure that you have the proper reference information.
Did you use correct spelling and grammar with your questions and answers?
YOU HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL. In general, it takes ~10‐15 minutes to write a question with feedback. Thus, it
should take about 2‐3 hours to complete the extra credit assignment. You can earn 2 points per question.

A. Start early
B. Ask questions if you have them
C. It may be easiest to start at the beginning of the book and work your way through the specific chapters
D. The syllabus outlines the modules and chapters covered during the semester
E. Submit at least a day before the deadline to minimize submission troubles…no late submissions!
