History and Evolution of Probation/Parole
In chapters 2 & 3 of the text, Alarid (2015) discusses the history and evolution of both probation and parole/mandatory release. Write a short essay based on the following:

Explain the origins of both probation and parole and how and why each has evolved over time. What types of conditions, beliefs, and philosophies influenced their development and evolution? How are both structured today? How did we end up with the current structures and system? What are your thoughts regarding the effectiveness of each today?

You are provided information on these topics in the assigned online readings and the additional resources posted for Unit 2 discussion. You should use all available sources and/or those you have located on your own in completing your Unit 2 Assignment paper. Your paper must include information from the text and three additional quality reference sources for a total of four reference sources. Effective use of each reference source is worth 10 points. Every time you submit a paper with fewer than four quality academic sources, you will lose points.

Your paper should be approximately 750 – 900 words. The paper must be in APA format. Cite your sources in APA format. Respond in the Unit 2 submission link. Your paper is due by midnight Sunday CT of Unit 2.

Your paper will be graded according to the following rubric. Each section is important to the overall grade and scoring of your unit assignments. There are four papers worth 45 points each, for a total of 180 points or 18% of your grade.
