Once a form of ownership is chosen, you must then decide how to start your business, In chapter 5, you learned about starting a small business and the advantages and disadvantages of small businesses. Some will choose to start from scratch or to buy a preexisting established business. Bot of these option have their advantages and disadvantages. However, one of the primary topics in this chapter was focused upon the advantages and disadvantages of starting a business with a franchise. Table 5.5 shows the top 10 franchises as of 2011 and the top new franchises. Your task for this discussion is to think of a business you might want to start and try to find a franchiser for that type of company. For example: If you want to open a doughnut shop you could choose Dunkin Doughnuts, Krispy Kreme, or another doughnut franchise. If you want a yogurt shop, you could look at Yogurtland, Mencies, or another franchise you find. So have fun shopping around for a franchise. In your original post, include the type of business, the franchise you found, and information such as how much their franchise fee is, how many franchises are there, approximate start up out of pocket cost if available.
