Not every gift has to be expensive or extravagant

Judges will select one potential winner based on the criteria of writing ability (25 percent), creativity (25 percent), originality (25 percent), and overall excellence (25 percent). In the event of a tie, the potential winner will be the applicant with the higher score for overall excellence.

A complete application must include a short original, previously unpublished written response to the topic:

Not every gift has to be expensive or extravagant. In fact, sometimes it’s the sweet and simple things that make a real difference in our lives. Think back and tell us about something you received as a gift and why it meant so much to you.” The student’s written response must be written in English, with correct spelling and grammar, and it must not exceed 250 words.

-No sources, only original writing.

Example: Think back to a time when you received a special gift that seemed so unassuming yet made such a strong impact in your life. Was it a present you could open in a box or a humble gesture from a stranger?
