Option #1: Ethical Considerations of Electronic Surveillance in the Workplace

We have all heard about alleged electronic surveillance and eavesdropping done by government entities. Locate a minimum of three timely articles (written within the past five years) that focus on the ethical considerations of such electronic surveillance and eavesdropping.

Next, in a 3 to 5-page paper, discuss the following four topics in order using the prescribed section headers in bold.

  • Section 1—Electronic Surveillance Defined. In this section, define electronic surveillance and eavesdropping in your own words or paraphrase them from a scholarly source.
  • Section 2—Moral and Ethical Implications. In this section, (1) describe what you consider the difference between the terms “moral” and “ethical”, and (2) assess whether surveillance and eavesdropping are moral and ethical in the workplace.
  • Section 3—Necessity of Surveillance. In this section, describe whether surveillance and eavesdropping are necessary in today’s workplace and provide examples.
  • Section 4—Ethical Use of Surveillance. In this section, describe how electronic surveillance and eavesdropping can be performed in an ethical manner in the workplace.

Additional requirements:

  • A minimum of three scholarly/peer-reviewed references must be included. (Do not include blogs, Wikis, or anonymous sources, for example.)
