Discussion Board Posting Policy

1.Definitions:
a.Main Post – the student’s direct response to the DB assignment. The main post can be the student’s first post of the week or a subsequent post.
b.Response Post – the student’s replies to others in the class. Response posts are required to be relevant and substantive, to add something to the issue being discussed. It cannot be over-emphasized that all DB posts should help move the online discussion forward.
c.Initial Post – the student’s first post to the DB in the week. This post is an original substantive response to another student or to the Unit DB Forum.
2.The Online week begins on Monday and ends on Sunday. A minimum of three posts by each student are required each week:
a.The main DB post.
b.At least two (2) relevant and substantive response posts to others in the class.
3.Students are expected to make their initial DB post early in the week but not later than 11:59pm, CT, Wednesday before the designated due date for the assignment.
a.The initial DB post can be the main post or any of the two required response posts as described in statement #2 above.
b.The remaining two posts must be uploaded on any two separate days in the week. One of the two separate days can be the day the initial post is made.
4.Students are strongly encouraged to participate actively in the DB several days during the week. However, each student is expected to be on the DB a minimum of two separate days each week in accordance with statement #3 above.
5.All DB posts must be made prior to each Unit DB assignment due date. No late DB posts will be accepted. Thus, a student will not be allowed to submit Unit 2 DB in week 4 or beyond.
6.Penalties are attached to non-compliance for the previously stated expectations both in terms of timeline and number of posts. Students who fail or neglect to make their initial DB post on or before Wednesday will lose 10% of the points for the DB assignment. Instructors can also deduct additional points if any of the required posts are not substantive as described in statement #1 above.

In the ClipArt Directory, Microsoft provides an abundance of clip art images, icons, backgrounds, and wizards to help you create professional-looking documents. At times, there may be a need to venture to the Internet to find more resources. Many Web sites exist that provide people the ability to download free clip art and other resources.

Search on the Internet to discover at least 2 additional sites other than Microsoft’s that offer clip art, whether free or for a price. If you have real-life or professional experience with clip art sites, include them as part of the minimum 2 sites and write about the reasons you use these sites. If you have not used clip art before, find 2 sites on the Internet, and provide at least 1 example of when each site could be used in a practical way. Include the type of clip art found at the sites, including categories or special interest areas for the site.

Remember, this assignment will help you research an interesting and potentially useful topic for ongoing work. It also emphasizes research and critical thinking about the topic.

This assignment’s grade is based on the quality of the Discussion Board posts. Be sure to read the Discussion Board assignment requirements. In most situations, you are required to post a specific number of paragraphs or words. Your postings should include proper grammar and spelling. If you borrow something from another source, be sure you cite it in APA style.

You are also required to respond to your classmates. Remember, a quality post is not a simple one-sentence response. Your responses to your classmates should be at least a paragraph and should be based upon your experiences, the unit readings, or the class materials.
