Overview of Assignment

This paper asks you to showcase your critical thinking skills by applying what you’ve learned about film form to a critical reading of a film of your choice. You may take any approach and focus on any aspects of your chosen film as long as your paper elucidates something that may not be immediately apparent to all viewers. In order to excel on this assignment, you need to demonstrate your sophisticated understanding of how several different elements of film form interact to help create meaning. For instance, you might unravel how lighting, nondiagetic sound, and plot combine to reinforce a main theme. I expect you to use appropriate film terminology throughout the paper.
