Choose a topic associated to the material covered in this course. It must be current and also demonstrate a leadership approach to solving an ethical problem that is associated with the Criminal Justice system. Choose a topic that you are familiar with and/or have a high interest in. Some examples are:

Ethical decisions or issues faced by a police chief or other criminal justice administrator:

  • Police corruption and misconduct
  • Consistency in disciplinary issues
  • How to overcome and implement organizational change and innovation
  • Political issues faced by an agency head
  • Accountability issues
  • Changes to performance appraisals
  • Improvement to organizational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Peels Principles and how they apply to today

The objective for the project is to write about a specific problem or issue explaining how you as a criminal justice administrator would approach solving the problem using the techniques talked about in the course. When picking your topic, consider what research is available, who could serve as a population for your survey, etc.

After reviewing your resources, in a 1-2 page submission:

  1. Describe your topic
  2. Explain why you chose this topic

Once you have chosen your topic of interest, you will write a short introduction explaining the following:

  • Provide background information about the topic so the reader will understand the importance of your research
  • Describe the problem or issue you will be writing about
  • Establish the main ideas and context of the problem
  • Include appropriate scholarly support using at least 5 resources, 3 of which are scholarly, peer reviewed sources published within the past 5 years.
  • Your introduction should be 1-page in length.
